A comprehensive federal tobacco prevention and control site. OSH is responsible for leading and coordinating strategic efforts aimed at preventing tobacco use among youth, promoting smoking cessation among youth and adults, protecting nonsmokers from environmental tobacco smoke (ETS), and eliminating tobacco-related health disparities.
CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR)
The MMWR contains data on specific diseases as reported by state and territorial health departments and reports on infectious and chronic diseases, environmental hazards, natural or human-generated disasters, occupational diseases and injuries, and intentional and unintentional injuries. Also included are reports on topics of international interest and notices of events of interest to the public health community.

American Legacy Foundation
A national, independent public health foundation established in 1999 with funds from the 1998 tobacco Master Settlement Agreement. The foundation develops national programs that address the health effects of tobacco use through grants, technical training and assistance, youth activism, strategic partnerships, counter-marketing and grass roots marketing campaigns, public relations, and community outreach to populations disproportionately affected by tobacco.
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is the largest philanthropy devoted exclusively to health and health care in the United States. The foundation provides funding to reduce the personal, social and economic harm caused by substance abuse - tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs.

National Networks for Tobacco Control and Prevention
In 2006, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Office on Smoking and Health (OSH) funded six Networks to provide leadership and expertise in the development of policy related initiatives (including environmental and systems change) and utilization of proven or potentially promising practices when available or appropriate. The Networks collaborate with the National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) which includes OSH, Network members, Network partners, States, and other local and national tobacco control organizations to advance the science and practice of tobacco control in the United States for all members of their population.
Global Tobacco Control
With a funding commitment of $125 million, the Bloomberg Global Initiative to Reduce Tobacco Use represents the largest-ever effort to fight tobacco in the low- and middle-income countries that are now home to a majority of the world's smokers. This site offers free instructional training for policy makers, researchers, educators and the general public. We help participants develop and implement effective tobacco control programs, advocate for substantial anti-smoking regulations and craft media campaigns that make a difference. Our multimedia educational modules feature tobacco control experts from around the world. The curriculum was developed by faculty at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the premier source for research and policy guidance on how to stem the global epidemic of tobacco-related cancer death.

Monitoring the Future (MTF)
Monitoring the Future is an ongoing study of the behaviors, attitudes, and values of American secondary school students, college students, and young adults. Each year, a total of some 50,000 8th, 10th and 12th grade students are surveyed (12th graders since 1975, and 8th and 10th graders since 1991). In addition, annual follow-up questionnaires are mailed to a sample of each graduating class for a number of years after their initial participation. The Monitoring the Future Study has been funded under a series of investigator-initiated research grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, a part of the National Institutes of Health. MTF is conducted at the Survey Research Center in the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan.
